<p>An improved design of common rail fuel injection system, e.g. for an IC engine, has profiled damping inserts fitted into the rail to smooth out pressure pulses generated by the injectors. A simple insert has a meandering shape with damping chambers (8) positioned over each injector (3). Another design has elastic absorbing pads (6) fitted to the inside wall of the rail. Typical pads are made of a porous, e.g. elastic foam material.</p> |
