PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary compressor using natural refrigerant such as carbon dioxide without causing depletion of the ozone layer and warming of the earth, improving surface hardness and oil retention capacity of cylinder material of the rotary compressor, preventing seizure and abrasion between a vane and a side surface of a vane groove on a suction side of a cylinder and having high reliability. SOLUTION: The rotary compressor of the invention uses the refrigerant containing neither chlorine nor fluorine in a molecular structure and the cylinder is formed of sintered material.
