The unit has a base which supports an electric air heater (4) and a refrigerator unit (5). The evaporator of the refrigerator consists of a coil (6) supported freely on the base. The base also carries a humidifier (7) which consists of a reservoir of water with an electric heater. All the components on the base are enclosed in an outer cover (12). The cover has openings or grilles by means of which air can circulate through the unit. The unit can also contain a fan to produce forced circulation of air.
