<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent illumination light from obstructing the driver's view sitting in a front seat when arranging a light-guiding illumination member in an instrument panel in a front part of vehicle interior. <P>SOLUTION: This illumination system of the vehicle interior is constituted by arranging the light-guiding illumination member 2 in the instrument panel 10 in the front part of vehicle interior. The instrument panel 10 is provided with a step part S laterally extending at a height approximately equal to or above that of an installation part of a steering wheel 35 to the instrument panel. In the step part, a rear edge 11p of a step upper part face 11f on its upper side is set by overhanging onto a backward side of a vehicle more than a front edge 12p of an upper part of a step lower part face 12f on a lower side. The illumination member is laterally extended in the vicinity of the front edge of the step lower part face.
