PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the shipping initialization of an EEPROM unnecessary, improve productivity, extend the life of the EEPROM by reducing the number of writing times to an EEPROM and efficiently use the region of the EEPROM in an application system such as a home electrical appliance equipped with the EEPROM which stores a setting value for controlling the system. SOLUTION: The EEPROM control system is provided with; the EEPROM which stores a setting value for controlling a system; a control part which reads out the setting value stored in the EEPROM and controls the system; a determination part which determines whether data stored in the EEPROM are normal based on the data stored in a prescribed address of the EEPROM; and a ROM which stores a default value of the setting value for controlling the system. When the determination part determines that the data stored in the EEPROM are abnormal, controlling is made based on the default value stored in the ROM, or the default value stored in the ROM is written to the EEPROM.
