<p>A process for enriching an organic extractant with nickel ions and further extracting nickel ions and other metal ions from aqueous solutions. In particular, the process includes the steps: a) mixing a water-immiscible organic extractant solution loaded with nickel ions and non-nickel metal ions with a nickel chloride solution so that nickel ions from the nickel chloride solution replace at least some of the non-nickel metal ions in the organic extractant solution to give an organic extractant solution enriched with nickel ions; and b) separating the organic extractant solution enriched with nickel ions from the aqueous solution.</p> |
