PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element which is obtained from usefully designed organic EL element material, shows high external extraction quantum efficiency, has a long light emission life and is low in driving voltage, and also to provide an illuminating device and display unit. SOLUTION: There is provided a composite in which a phosphorescence-emitting organic metal complex is included in an inclusion compound, or the composite in which the above inclusion compound has at least a hole transportable group or electron transportable group.
