PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device duplex printing a long recording medium 150. SOLUTION: A carrying passage A receives the recording medium 150 supplied from a multi-purpose tray MPT01 and carries it inside an image forming part 7. A retreating passage B is formed in the device, and temporarily retreats the recording medium 150 passed through the image forming part 7. An inverse passage C turns and feeds the recording medium 150 retreated to the retreating passage B to the carrying passage A, and inverses the recording surface of the recording medium. A medium carrying wall drive part 62 opens a medium carrying wall 61 so that the recording medium 150 exceeding the length of the retreating passage B can be projected to the outside of the device.
