Device for determining the wind gradient (wind shear) and downwash angle on board an aircraft

A signal for the smoothed wind shear is derived from the measurement signals, the horizontal component of acceleration and the air speed. From the signals of vertical acceleration, the angle of attack, the pitch angle and the altitude, finally, a signal for the downwash angle is determined. The various embodiments also deal with the case where no inertial system is available for measuring acceleration on board the aircraft and sensors are used for this purpose which are integrated into the device. <IMAGE>
