INSPECTION METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SLIDER AUTOMATIC LOCK MEANS

For inspection of a slider with automatic locking in the final step of slider assembly the slider is positioned with its undersurface horizontal and the pull tab contacting the body upper surface and extending horizontally outwardly, and a downward biasing force is applied to the tab by a constant stroke of a dial gauge from above. Slider quality is determined by the electrical signals emitted by operation of uppermost and lowermost contacts on the gauge depending on whether or not gauge pressure and resilient counter-pressure of the tab subjected to resilient pressure biasing an engaging pawl in the slider balance one another within a predetermined range. The gauge is pref. returned to zero once during the gauge stroke.
