0.0050-0.08% C, 0.0100-0.06% N, 28.5- 30.5% Cr, 3.60-5.60% Mo, up to 2.00% Mn, up to 2.00% Ni, up to 2.00% Si, up to 0.5% Al for deoxidizing the steel, up to 2.00% of Ti, Zr and Nb, the balance is mainly Fe. The Ti, Zr and Nb contents are as follows: %Ti/6+%Zr/7+%Nb/8 at least %C+%N more than 0.0275%. The steel is espeically useful as a welded article of thickness no more than 0.07 inch, in particular as welded condenser tubing normally 0.026-0.037 inch thick. It has superior crevice corrosion resistance and it does not need special expensive melting procedures. It has good weldability and adequate toughness before and after welding.
