<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for measuring bacterial count with which the measurement of initial bacterial count with reproducibility can accurately be carried out by using an oxygen electrode method and to provide an apparatus for measuring the bacterial count and a cell used for the apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The method for measuring the bacterial count comprises steps of a step (a) to a step (d). In the step (a), a sample (specimen) which is the object of measurement containing a prescribed bacterial strain (e.g. Escherichia coli or a coliform group) is added to a prescribed culture medium (e.g. a culture medium used in a method for a specific enzyme substrate culture medium). In the step (b), a value of electric current flowing through the culture medium in which a sample is added is measured under a prescribed temperature and a prescribed voltage with the oxygen electrode. In the step (c), a time required for the value of electric current once reduced after starting the measurement to rise and exceed the prescribed threshold value is measured.
