摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide passive Q-switched laser equipment in which size reduction is attained, and a pulse-shaped laser beam is output with a stabilized polarization direction, while suppressing the deterioration of peak intensity. SOLUTION: The laser equipment 10 includes a laser medium 11, a saturable absorber 14, and an exciting light source portion 13 which outputs light 22 of a wavelength which excites the laser medium. The laser medium 11 is arranged between a pair of reflecting means 12A, 12B of an optical resonator 12, and emits light, when excited. The saturable absorber 14 is arranged on the optical axis L of the optical resonator 12 between a pair of the reflecting means, and a transmission factor increases as the emitted light 21 is absorbed from the laser medium. The saturable absorber 14 is a crystal material, having a first to a third crystal axes which intersect at right angles each other, and is arranged inside the optical resonator 12 so that each of these has the different transmission factor to the emitted light of two polarization directions which intersect at right angles each other. In this case, laser oscillation is generated to the emitted light of the polarization direction of the higher transmission factor, and as a result, a laser beam of stabilized polarization direction is obtained.
