PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a white balance processing by means of a normal light and a narrow band light surely in a short period of time. SOLUTION: In a white balance correction part 80, R and B correction values are calculated from the ratios G/R and G/B of the average values of normal surface sequential R/G/B signals. The correction value for the normal light is stored in a normal light correction value storage part 82 when an observation mode detected in a mode switching circuit uses a normal light mode, and the correction value for the narrow band light is obtained from the normal light correction value and an LUT 83 and is recorded in a narrow band light correction value storage part 84 when observation mode uses a narrow band light mode.
