PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To apply band limit or band warrant to each class of packets in the case of transmitting packets belonging to any of a plurality of the classes to a communication network.
SOLUTION: A register therein stores a fastest time (IRL) at which a transmitter can transmit a packet next in order to conform to the permissible band width provided to the transmitter, fastest times (RL-1 to n) at which a packet of a concerned class can be transmitted in order to conform to the permissible band width of each class, and final times (RG-1 to n) at which the packet of the concerned class is to be transmitted next in order to conform to assure the warrant band of each class. When a packet transmission enabled timing comes, a packet of a class m whose transmission time close to the final times (RG-1 to n) is preferentially transmitted among classes whose present time reaches the fastest times (RL-1 to n). When the transmission of the packet is started, a succeeding fastest time (IRL), a fastest time (RL-m) and a final time (RG-m) of the concerned class m are determined on the basis of an amount of data of the concerned packet.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
|
