The present invention relates to a system and method for utilizing a channel domain, and more particularly, to a system and method for expanding and utilizing a channel domain system using virtual channels by providing broadcast content channel information and system information to the channel domain system. The present invention comprises a transmitting station 100 for encoding data broadcast contents, broadcasting program information and channel domain system data information o virtual channels to produce and transmit digital broadcast streams; a receiving station 200 for receiving the data broadcast streams from the transmitting station 100 and displaying the received data streams onto a display device using the broadcast contents and channel domain system data; and a channel domain managing station 300 for managing virtual domain information of the data broadcast contents or virtual domains registered by a user and storing the channel domain system data therein. Further, the present invention can organize respective networks, each of which comprises the broadcasting transmitting station, the user receiving station, the managing station and the like, into a single domain integrated network. Therefore, contents between independent broadcasting service providers can be incorporated with one another and the connection between users can also be performed.
