PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electroluminescent element capable of high luminance and having a long emission lifetime, and further provide an electroluminescent element capable of high luminance of a large area of 0.25 m<SP>2</SP>or more, and having a long emission lifetime. SOLUTION: The electroluminescent element comprises a transparent conductive layer and a phosphor layer, and the surface resistance of the transparent conductive layer is 0.05Ω/sq. to 80Ω/sq, and the electroluminescent element has at least one layer of an intermediate layer between the transparent conductive layer and the phosphor layer.
