According to the invention, an extremely long tube, which is open at the top and stabilised in water by floats or weights, is filled with water in its lower section and connected to another water tank, whose upper section is filled with air. The propellant carriage is ejected downwards into the water upon ignition, said water cooling the tube wall. The space projectile is installed together with the upper stage of a rocket in a carriage, which is provided with a thrust plate, above the propellant carriage and is accelerated in a uniform manner to the mouth of the tube when the propellant is ignited. Extremely high speeds can be achieved as a result of the length of the tube and the rapid acceleration. The entire tube system is controlled by working ships or other floating bodies that are attached to steel cables etc. The start tube is re-usable. |
