<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To brightly illuminate an F number of a relay lens system, even when it is dark by reducing the illuminance uneveness of a light valve. <P>SOLUTION: An image display device has two mutually opposite rectangular faces and at least four polygonal faces between LED 1 and a relay lens 2 and arranges a secondary light source formation prism for forming the area of a first rectangular face 11 positioned at the side of LED 1, from among the two rectangular faces larger than the area of a second rectangular face 12 positioned at the side of the light valve 3. The image display device couples the secondary light source forming prism 10 to LED, and reduces the influence due to the illuminance uneveness of the luminous intensity distribution characteristics of a light emitting diode, by dividing the emission light flux of LED 1 into a plurality of the emission light fluxes (at least 5). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
