PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve gear of an overhead valve engine which can reduce the manufacturing cost of a push rod and which can improve the assembling workability. SOLUTION: The push rod 15 extending between a rocker arm 8 which drives an intake/exhaust valve for opening or closing and a tappet 14 which slidingly advances or retreats in contact with the peripheral surface of a valve cam 13 is formed in a longitudinally symmetrical shape such that the push rod has spherical recesses 17, 18 at both its end portions.
