<p>The system has a man-machine interface (2) that is designed in a form of a steering wheel and or a control lever for controlling the driving direction of a motor vehicle. A control mechanism (3) is provided for aligning a steering wheel. The mechanism has a function that depends upon the driving direction of the vehicle, where a mechanical connection does not exist between the interface and the mechanism. An independent claim is also included for a method for a drive-by-wire-control system.</p>
