<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a travel controller for a vehicle capable of avoiding collision with a vehicle, without operating the accelerator, brake, steering wheel or the like by the driver of own vehicle, even if the vehicle traveling on an adjacent lane suddenly cuts into own vehicle lane, when there is congestion in the adjacent lane, and when a vehicular speed control means controls a vehicle speed to bring the vehicle speed of the own vehicle into a prescribed vehicular speed. <P>SOLUTION: The presence of autocruising mode travel in the own vehicle is determined first. The presence of the congestion in the adjacent lane is determined, when a determination result is "YES". The speed set is made low, and the throttle, actuator of the brake or the like is controlled so as to be brought into the set speed, when the vehicle speed of the own vehicle gets low, and when a determination result is "YES".
