PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that it was impossible to realize a fuse element of which the rated current capacity per sheet of the same size is large with an I<SP>2</SP>t value made small because the I<SP>2</SP>t value becomes large in proportion to the square of the total minimum cross sectional areaΣS in a conventional fuse element. SOLUTION: The fuse element 21 is constituted by forming a conductive thin film 23 on the surface of a rectangular plate ceramic substrate 22 having electrically insulating characteristics. As for the conductive thin film 23, a copper foil or the like existing in 9 pieces of oval parts 23a and half-ellipse parts 23b on these both sides is removed by etching, and this parallel intercepting part 23c in which 10 pieces of a narrow and small part P of which the cross-sectional area is made narrow and small are electrically arranged in parallel is formed furthermore. Other 5 pieces of these parallel intercepting parts 23c are electrically arranged in series. Furthermore, the thickness excluding the parallel intercepting part 23c is formed thinner in comparison with the thickness of the other part of the parallel intercepting part 23c, and the number P<SB>B</SB>of the narrow and small part P is numerously formed based on this share of which the thickness has been reduced.
