DATA REPRODUCING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data reproducing apparatus which can reproduce multiplexed data multiplexed with a format being not in conformity to a standard from an optical disk. SOLUTION: When discrimination information (std_idc) of a format conforming to a standard of the optical disk cannot be retrieved from control information recorded in the optical disk, the data reproducing apparatus can cope with, also identification information (opt_idc) of a substandard format being in conformity to a standard of an optical disk of a different kind is retrieved from the control information. And when the identification information (opt_idc) is detected, multiplexed data recorded in the optical disk are reproduced based on a format indicated in the identification information (opt_idc).
