PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a humidifier with a humidifying part whose operation is controlled not to be restarted as a liquid amount remains short, when the humidifying part is stopped after detecting that the liquid amount is short. SOLUTION: Water to be supplied to a water storage tank 42 flows from a water supply tank 3 via the water storage tank 42 and a communication passage 41D into the water storage tank 42. In a tank insertion part 41, a float switch 14 is arranged for detecting the level of a water surface. The float switch 12 detects the level of the water surface with reference to a first reference position H1 and a second reference position H2 arranged thereabove. When the level of the water surface is lower than the first reference position H1, a fan 20 is stopped.
