PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for refining a carbon nanotube where, from a carbon impurity-containing carbon nanotube product produced using a metal catalyst, the carbon impurities are easily removed, and a carbon nanotube with high purity can be obtained, and to provide a carbon nanotube with high purity obtained by the refining method. SOLUTION: The method for refining a carbon impurity-containing carbon nanotube produced using a metal catalyst, includes a process where a magnetic field is acted on the carbon nanotube product, thus the carbon nanotube stuck to the metal catalyst and the carbon impurities are separated, and the carbon impurities are removed.
