<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device having a wide color reproduction range. <P>SOLUTION: A light selective transmission filter 32 is provided between a cold-cathode fluorescent lamp 43 as a light source and a liquid crystal panel 2. This light selective transmission filter 32 has wavelength selective transmission characteristics of selectively transmitting light in a prescribed wavelength range in projection light from the cold-cathode fluorescent lamp 43 and guiding it to the liquid crystal panel 2. Consequently, an NTSC ratio is improved by increasing the color purity of illumination light of the liquid crystal panel 2 to expand the color reproduction range. Even when a light selective reflection filter having wavelength selective reflection characteristics of selectively reflecting light in a prescribed wavelength range in the projection light from the cold-cathode fluorescent lamp 43 and guiding it to the liquid crystal panel 2 is provided on a tilt surface of a light guide plate 45, the color reproduction range can be expanded as well. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
