PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of management in a character string giving method, in which a character string such as a date and time barely satisfying uniqueness is given as a file name, and to solve a problem of complicated operation in a file name character giving method, in which a file name is given by inputting characters, when the file name for an electronic file is necessary in its storage after reading a document and transforming it into the electronic file. SOLUTION: Image data formed by reading the document and transforming it into the electronic file are temporarily stored in a RAM 4, and file name candidates created by combining key data previously stored in a second storage part 5 are displayed on a touch panel 6a. When a user selects a file name suitable for the electronic file among the file name candidates read from the touch panel 6a displaying the file name candidates, the selected file name is associated with the image data temporarily stored in the RAM 4 to be stored as an image data file in a first storage part 8. In this way, in storage of the inputted image information after transformation into the electronic file, the user can make a selection among the prepared file name candidates without any complicated operation such as input of a file name and store the information with the suitable file name.
