PURPOSE:To easily and certainly adjust the color shift generated when printing is performed by a plurality of heads, by a method wherein a head to be adjusted is driven to perform printing at an interval narrower by one dot than a reference interval and subjected to offset adjustment in a vertical direction with respect to a reference head. CONSTITUTION:A switch 11 is used to set the printing interval due to a cyan line head to an interval narrower by one dot than a reference interval and a pattern is stored in RAM 15. In such a case that adjustment is desired so as to be capable of performing printing in such a state that the lateral line due to a black line head 2 coincides with that due to a cyan line head 3 at an N-position, for example, when the lateral lines coincide with each other at an (N+2)-position, the number of dots corresponding to the number of lines from the N-position to the (N+2)-position where the lateral lines coincide are adjusted. Since the number of said lines are 2, the cyan line head 3 is shifted by two dots with respect to the black line head 2. In this case, when the switch 11 is used and the cyan line head 3 is shifted by two dots, two lateral lines coincide at the N-position. |
