Device for sliding a C-clip sheet metal nut onto the edge of a support of an instrument panel comprises a feed channel (4) and an ejection unit (5) forming a single component (1) which freely moves in a space using a drive unit. A joint head (7) is connected to the single component to provide linear movement and is provided with a corresponding drive (8). Drives (6, 11) are assigned to the ejection unit and a tensioning unit. Preferred Features: The drives assigned to the ejection unit, the tensioning unit and the joint head are formed by hydraulic cylinders.
