A pump assembly 10 includes a pumping element 14 located in a pumping chamber 16, a motor 12 including a stator 28 and a rotor 26, and a sealing assembly which permits fluid in the pumping chamber 16 to flow around the rotor 26, but prevents it from contacting the stator 28. The sealing assembly includes a partition part 24 which lies between the stator 28 and the pumping chamber 16, and a sealing part 40 which lies between the stator 28 and the rotor 26. The sealing part 40 is made from a polymeric material and is over-moulded onto the partition part 24. The partition part 24 may be formed from a metal, such as cast aluminium, and may have a tubular attachment portion onto which the sealing part 40 is over-moulded. A free end of the attachment portion may be castellated, and may also be provided with circumferential grooves.
