摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device capable of reducing damage due to discharge and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: A front face substrate 2 of the image display device has a fluorescent screen 6 comprising a phosphor layer and a light-shielding layer 22 and a metal back layer 7 comprising a conductive thin film superposed on the fluorescent screen. A plurality of electron emission elements 8 emitting electrons towards the fluorescent screen are arranged on a back face substrate 2. A metal back layer has a discontinuous conductive thin film 7b located in an area overlapped with the light-shielding layer.
