PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet head which can form a high-quality image at a high speed by rapidly and surely supplying coloring material particles to an ejection port, and a control method for the inkjet head. SOLUTION: In this inkjet head 10, an ejection-port substrate 16, wherein an ejection port 28 is formed, is provided with an ejection electrode 18 which is composed of an upstream-side electrode 18a, a downstream-side electrode 18b and intermediate electrodes 18c and 18d. A control part 33, which can control a voltage applied to the ejection electrode 18, controls each of voltages which are applied to the respective electrodes, constituting the ejection electrode 18, so that an asymmetrical electric field can be formed in the ejection port 28 in the nonejection of ink. This enables the coloring material particles to be rapidly and surely flocculated in the ejection port 28, and enables the high-quality image to be formed on the recording medium at the high speed.
