PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface sheet of an absorbent article in which a liquid quickly moves from an upper layer to a lower layer and the wet-back of the liquid can hardly occurs. SOLUTION: The surface sheet 1 has a perforated plastic sheet 2 and a fiber sheet 3. Both the sheets 2, 3 are bonded by press bonding by embossing in a state where the fiber sheet 3 is extended in one direction. Embossments 4 formed by embossing are formed so as to have a shape having a longitudinal direction and a widthwise direction and so that the longitudinal direction intersects the extending direction of the fiber sheet 3. The perforated sheet 2 is recessed in concave shape at embossments 4, thereby a large number of recesses 6 are formed in the surface sheet 1 and protrusions 7 are formed between the recesses 6.
