PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochemically recyclable catalyst useful for reducing an organic compound, especially an organic compound containing a carbonyl group.

SOLUTION: The electrochemically recyclable catalyst is represented by formula (1b) (wherein, R1, R2, R3, R4, R6and R7are the same or different and each independently a hydrogen atom, a 1-10C alkyl group or a 6-10C aryl group; R5is a hydrogen atom or a 1-10C alkyl group; and M is a mono- to hexa-valent transition metal).
