The compound fiber component (1), for vehicles, has a fiber structure embedded in a hardened and mainly transparent matrix material (3). Reaction capsules (10), as particles, are distributed in the matrix material (3) which fracture under high forces and release a color. When the component is damaged (6), such as a crack, the released color from the capsules flows into the damaged zone to give a visual marking of the crack (6). The fibers are of carbon and/or plastics and/or glass.
