<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To freely control the torque distribution ratio between front wheels and rear wheels. <P>SOLUTION: A drive unit 11 comprises a front wheel driving motor 40 connected to the front wheels 13, a rear wheel driving motor 41 connected to the rear wheels 16, and a motor clutch 45 disposed between the driving motors 40, 41. Separate control of respective driving motors 40, 41 with the motor clutch 45 kept disengaged allows free setting of the torque distribution ratio between the front and rear wheels 13, 16, thereby leading the improvement of the power performance of a vehicle. In addition, direct control of the front wheels 13 by the front wheel driving motor 40 and of the rear wheels 16 by the rear wheel driving motor 41 enables the drive unit 11 to show improved response and accuracy in controlling the torque distribution ratio. Further, by engaging the motor clutch 45, the torque distribution ratio can be fixed to 50:50, thereby the running performance of the vehicle is improved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
