PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gate type shift lever device of an automatic transmission having a key interlock mechanism capable of increasing the push-pull force of a cable without degrading the feeling in a regular shift operation. SOLUTION: A fan-shaped flange part 1e is formed on front and rear oscillating base parts 11 of a shift lever 9 supported by a housing 5 fixed to a vehicle body, and a projection part 1j is provided on right and left oscillating base parts 12. The projection part 1j and a key interlock unit 3 to turn and urge a key lock lever 16 having an attachable/detachable projecting part 24 by a coil spring 23 are installed in the housing 5.
