PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detergent composition excellent in detergency to oil and fat, grease, protein and the like, and suitably usable for washing medical instruments. SOLUTION: The detergent composition comprises 89.9-60 wt.% peroxide generating hydrogen peroxide when dissolved in water, 10-30 wt.% bicarbonate and 0.01-10 wt.% chelating agent and has≤0.5% insoluble content unpassing the membrane filter of 0.5μm pore diameter when dissolved in water, and the method for washing medical instruments uses an aqueous solution of the detergent composition.
