Parallel manual transmission actuator`s functional capability checking method for use in motor vehicle, involves monitoring whether plausible block is found in key and effecting control for applying end gear if block is detected

The method involves monitoring actuator position and movement using an incremental encoder. A key is positioned in selective direction if a primary actuation unit is moved from a selective lane (102) to a gear lane or switching lane and is positioned in its switching lane and/or gear lane range. The key is monitored whether it has a plausible block in it. A control for applying an end gear is effected if the block is detected. An independent claim is also included for a parallel manual transmission with an electronic control device for controlling a method for checking functional capability of a parallel manual transmission actuator.
