<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more accurately discriminate the authenticity of an identification card having a film stretched on a printed surface. <P>SOLUTION: These method and system comprise a first discrimination step of judging the quality of the material of the film stretched on the printed surface of the identification card and a second discrimination step of judging the thickness of the film stretched on the printed surface of the card, and the authenticity of the identification card is discriminated on the basis of the results of judgement by the two steps. In the first discrimination step, the quality of the material of the film is judged by utilizing the existence or nonexistence of infrared absorption by the film, and in the second discrimination step, the thickness of the film is judged by using a confocal optical system and a scanning device. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
