PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to easily select his/her desired image data from among a plurality of items of image data. SOLUTION: For efficiently utilizing the storage area of a cache memory 12, the cache control unit 11 of an image data reproduction control apparatus 1 sets image data as a preferential image whose number is smaller than the number of items of data outputted on a display unit 3, whose number is smaller than the maximum number of the image data capable of being held by the cache memory 12, and which may be highly probably outputted from the cache memory 12 to the display unit 3. The unit 11 reads the preferential image preferentially from a recording medium 2 to cause the cache memory 12 to cache the read data.
