PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reactor which contributes to a decrease in weight of an air-conditioner exterior machine and is reduced in cost. SOLUTION: The reactor has such a structure that the maximum value of the height H1 of the outer part of the iron core of a coil 5 is larger than the height H2 of the inner part of the iron core; and a margin of the limit of a rise in coil temperature by improvement of heat emissivity of the coil 5 by incorporating varnish decreases a winding diameter, and a margin of the occupation rate of the coil 5 in an iron core window generated by the decrease in winding diameter decreases the weight of the coil and the weight of the iron core.
