PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing olefin polymer reducing or eliminating effect of extracting solvents and improving effect of catalyst in production of olefin polymer using liquid hydrocarbons comprising olefins with four carbon atoms as major component obtained from raffinate of extractive distillation to obtain diene based hydrocarbons as extracts. SOLUTION: The invention relates to the method for producing olefin polymers comprising a process contacting the raw material liquid hydrocarbons with a treating agent containing aluminum atom and then polymerizing under the presence of an acidic catalyst.
