PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preventing polymerization of a liquid material stored in a storage container in which solidification of a compound having an unsaturated bond can be prevented without affecting product quantity and environment by an additive or dilution purge when the compound is stored and to provide an apparatus for preventing polymerization of the liquid material. SOLUTION: The method for preventing polymerization of the liquid material stored in the storage container comprises providing a circulation passage for taking out the liquid material containing an unsaturated compound from the lower part of the storage container 11 and returning the liquid material to the upper part of the storage container 11. In the polymerization-preventing method, an auxiliary circulation current of the liquid material branched from the circulation passage is formed in the lower part of the storage container 11 to prevent solidification of the liquid material. The polymerization-preventing apparatus 10 has a branched passage branched from the circulation passage and installed in the bottom of the storage container 11 and a pump 15 installed in the circulation passage or the branched passage.
