PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steam generator for setting a plurality of states in a bathroom which are generated by the blowing of an air fan by controlling the operation state of the air fan and allowing a bathing person to clearly and visually recognize steam to be injected to the bathroom, so as to provide comfortable bathing. SOLUTION: This steam generator comprises a heat exchanger for generating the steam; a hot water circulation means for circulating hot water discharged to the heat exchanger; the air fan for injecting the steam generated by the heat exchanger into the bathroom; and a controlling means for controlling the number of rotation of the air fan so as to set the plurality of stages in the steam to be injected to the bathroom. The controlling means sets the number of rotation of the air fan to a value with which the steam to be injected to the bathroom is visually recognized to be white in a mist heating operation mode.
