The anti-theft device for a trailer hitched to a ball head trailer coupling consists of two half-shells (2,3) interconnected by a joint (4), whereby each half-shell has on one member facing the joint a recess (2a,3a) open on one side, so that the recesses together in the closed state form a hole (1) to receive the ball neck of the trailer coupling. The half-shells are lockable in relation to one another in the closed state by a shackle lock. The front edges (2c,3c) of each member of each half-shell which face the vehicle are bevelled or rounded.
