PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the diameter of a grinding wheel efficiently and accurately by confirming the position of laser beams LB1, LB2 for accurately measuring the diameter of the grinding wheel with comparatively little labor and time. SOLUTION: A large-diameter reference disc 24 and a small-diameter reference disc 25 fixed to a grinding wheel rotating shaft are formed, the coordinate values on the x-axis direction of the center O1 of rotation of the large-diameter reference disk 24 in intercepting the laser beams BL1, BL2 when the large-diameter reference disk 24 is fixed to the grinding wheel rotating shaft and the coordinate values on the x-axis direction of the center O2 of rotation of the small-diameter reference disk 25 in intercepting the laser beams BL1, BL2 when the small-diameter reference disk 25 is fixed to the grinding wheel rotating shaft are calculated, and on the basis of the coordinate values, the respective positions of the laser beams BL1, BL2 are calculated.
