PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high frequency power amplifier including an idling current control circuit, which reduces the operation current of a high frequency amplifier transistor more minutely for reducing power consumption furthermore at the time of low transmission power in a portable communication terminal. SOLUTION: An idling current control circuit 102 is connected to the output terminal of a bias circuit 101 for a high frequency transistor, has a constitution that the bias current may be changed to three or more steps for switching the bias current flowing in a high frequency amplifier transistor 12. Then, the bias current control can be carried out more minutely at the time of low output, and the operation current of the high frequency amplifier transistor can be reduced effectively.
