PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a lay-out permitting to compact a whole apparatus and reduce it in thickness even if an optical disk drive unit and a hard disk drive unit are arranged side by side in the lateral direction in a case. SOLUTION: The hard disk drive unit 2 and the optical disk drive unit 3 are arranged side by side in the case 1. An MPEG substrate 35 for controlling the optical disk drive unit 3 is fixed on the hard disk drive unit 2. On the other hand, electronic components with comparatively low height such as a microcomputer are mounted in a space part 31 formed under the hard disk drive unit 2. Thus, the case 1 can be reduced in thickness and miniaturized, and the composite video recording and reproducing equipment can be made compact. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
